Product Information
Which Excel functions are supported by PSC?

Currently over 300 of the most common Excel functions are supported in PSC. We are continually adding new functions in each new release. We prioritize those functions to be added in the next release depending on customer needs. If there are functions that you need and are currently not supported in PSC, we can move them into the scope of the next release.

Does PSC support macros and VBA codes?
Currently VBA codes and macros are not supported. We recommend our customers to remove macros and VBA code from their Excel model. We also provide services to remove the code for them as we have extensive in-house Excel expertise. Sometimes VBA code performs calculations required in the model. In those situations, we help our customers to rebuild those calculations using Excel functions.

Does PSC support database queries?
Yes. PSC includes custom worksheet functions SqlOpen and SqlGet. SqlOpen creates a dynamic connection to the desired database server or file while SqlGet uses the connection created by the SqlOpen function. The Data Lookup Wizard makes retrieving data from a database faster and easier through an intuitive, user interface. Wizard gathers the connection and query parameters and places SqlOpen and SqlGet custom add in functions in Excel Worksheet.

Does PSC support writing and saving to Excel-compatible files?
Yes. Version 4.2 is the first version of Pagos Spreadsheet Component that allows to save and create Excel-compatible files. Please see the list of supported features for more details.

Yes. With version 4.3 chart sheets and charts embedded in worksheets can be accessed and saved to files. Most Microsoft Excel chart types and chart properties are supported. Please see the list of supported features for more details.

PSC is designed to process calculations and logic in Excel files. Therefore it doesn't support features like cell formatting that are related to user interface

Purchasing and Licensing
If I purchase PSC now, do I have to pay full price for future versions?
If you purchase our maintenance agreement, you will receive any updates and future releases for a period of one year. You can renew maintenance agreement annually.

What is included in maintenance agreement?
Maintenance and support agreement includes receiving software updates and patches during twelve (12) months. It also includes up to 5 incidents of phone or email support per license regardless of whether it is per CPU or for Developer license for the same period. Additional support is available per incident basis.

Does any components of PSC rely on, use or reference open source code?
No

Can I install PSC at no cost during an evaluation period?
We provide a fully functional version of the PSC for an evaluation period of 30 days for free.

What is Product Activation?
Each copy of the PSC is required to be activated within 30 days of installation. Activation can be done either automatically or by sending us an email. Only paid, valid licenses will be activated.

Do I need a licence code (serial number) to use the 30-day trial version?
You can use Pagos Spreadsheet Component (PSC) without running the Activation Wizard. PSC is not a Windows application but a component which can be used by developers and can be integrated in other applications. Therefore, you need to call PSC from inside your programming environment, i.e. Visual Studio. It will work for 30 days without activation.

It is also recommend to download sample codes from our website. They will help you to better understand how to integrate PSC with your applications. >>Go to sample codes

I have very large Excel spreadsheets that contain very complex calculations and macros. Can you provide consulting services to optimize these files to reduce the size and complexity?
Most often, there are more optimal ways of using certain functions or building algorithms in Excel that can drastically improve the performance and reduce the file size. We have extensive experience in dealing with large and complex spreadsheet models. We help our clients to improve their models without loosing any accuracy.

I have an Excel model that has a User Interface developed in VBA. Can I use your product?
Currently PSC doesn't support VBA codes. We recommend our customers to remove the VBA code from the Excel model. We also provide services to remove the code for them as we have extensive in-house Excel expertise. Sometimes VBA code performs calculations required in the model. In those situations, we help our customers to rebuild those calculations using Excel functions.

One of the functions used in my Excel model is not supported by your product. What can you do to help me?
Most Excel functions can be substituted by a combination of other functions. We can help you to substitute this function with others supported in our product. Or we can include that function into the scope of our next release.

What is the difference between Lite Edition and full version?
Lite Edition is a low-cost alternative. It is designed to meet the needs of small businesses and independent software vendors (ISV). Features that are required for the enterprise customers are excluded from the Lite Edition. The main difference is that it can only process Excel files smaller than 200kB in size. Database functions that are available in full version are also excluded in the Lite Edition.
